Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a film-maker and actor family. She pursued both professions her own. At nine years of age, Asia made her film debut alongside Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. She played the leading role in Cristina Comencini's Zoo (1988) and appeared as part of Michele Soavi's 1989 feature film The Church. Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, was her role in the role of Nanni Moretti's daughter.
